About us

The search started here

Search Star was set up in 2005. Over the last six years Search Star has grown steadily. We have developed a strong team of extremely competent, professionally accredited and qualified Client Managers.

Dan Fallon – Managing Director

Dan started working in advertising in 1992 after graduating from Warwick University where he studied economics. He gained the Chartered Institute of Marketing Diploma in 1993. From 1993 to 2005 Dan worked in media agencies (MediaCom, Manning Gottlieb OMD and The Response Team) starting as a Graduate Planner/Buyer and finishing as Media Director.

Dan was one of the first people in the UK to qualify as a Google Advertising Professional and set up Search Star Ltd in 2005. Since then he’s been working towards a flat stomach.

Nettie Wells – Account Manager

Nettie was Search Star’s first employee having joined us from the automotive industry where she was Client Services Director for an engineering company.

She studied Modern Languages at Bristol University and is fluent in French and German. She swears more than the rest of us put together but is also the office spelling and syntax expert (very useful when writing ad copy). She has recently become addicted to Pacman.

Florian Pertynski – Account Manager

Hailing from Poland via Ireland he did a BA & MA in English Literature at the University of Lodz. After stints selling English text books & working as North Sea fisherman he moved to Google’s Euro-HQ in Dublin to work as part of the pan-European Google project team focussed on refining the Adsense ad matching algorithm.

He joined us in June 2011 and we are delighted that he did so.

He enjoys skimming extensive keyword lists and cycling in the rain from Bristol to Bath. He hopes to become rainproof soon.

Rosie Horsfall – Account Manager

Rosie graduated from Bristol University in 2011 with a degree in Sociology. With rural South Wales having little to offer her in the way of Advertising she headed towards London sharpish but got waylaid en-route by Search Star in Bath. No longer the newest recruit (but still the baby), she is as eager to learn from the team as she is to evaluate the outfit choices of the day.

Lizzy Lillington – Account Manager

Lizzy is our shiny new Account Manager for 2012; a top dollar Marketing and Advertising MA graduate. Originally from Dorset, Lizzy ventured to Bath to take on the world of online advertising, finding her way to Search Star. To the envy of the rest of the team, Lizzy is a running pro and will be taking on the Bath half marathon in March. The rest of the team will be watching and cheering from the side lines….with a Big Mac.

Dawn Jaggon – Finance Manager

Dawn is our latest acquisition and is responsible for all things finance related. As an MAAT accountant she is all about numbers, performance indicators and stats….Ooh how exciting!! Dawn’s projected forecast for this year is for plenty of sunshine and Tottenham to win the premiership!

Hugh Gage – Analytics Consultant

Hugh Gage is a web analytics and usability veteran, one of the first 100 certified Google Analytics practitioners. Dan & Hugh first worked together at OMD in 1999 and he has been working with Search Star as an Analytics Consultant since 2006 mentoring the team at Search Star in all things analytics. He also shares his Analytics expertise on Search-Star’s highly acclaimed Google Analytics training courses.

Apart from his activities as a consultant, Hugh currently writes the Web Pro Analytics column in the UK’s .NET magazine and exam questions for the Web Analytics Association’s (WAA) certification exam. As the examiner he has also passed the exam and is a Web Certified Analyst from the WAA.

When not staring at click-stream data, he likes watching paint dry or hiking in the Patagonian Andes… which unfortunately he doesn’t get to do that often.
